“Hazy Ajax” 60 x 48 in. This painting has so much more to be seen in person! Nobody likes smoke in the skies, but oh man it can make beautiful things to a sunset! Like the pastels colors and softness of the light and the contrast it creates.I started over the bottom part . The flowers I did before were pretty and everything, but I kept standing in front of the finished painting thinking to myself “this is not what I wanted to transmit”. It’s a very frustrating thing as an artist when this happens because you spent so many hours of work doing something that at the end you are not satisfied with. I could have let it go and I’m sure it was going to be fine, but I would’ve have known that I didn’t stay true to myself the whole time and that would have bothered the heck out of me! So, I painted white 20+ hours of work and started again. Now this, this is what I had in my heart the whole time!… To not compromise is costly for sure, but how rewarding it is to know you stayed true to yourself!
