SUSAN MAKARA - Poetics of Lights, Magic of Cairns.

The "Rock Series" by Susan Makara is outstanding, and truly unique. Almost 20 years after she started it, over a hundred pieces completed, she has Artworks hung in the US embassies in Nepal (read more), Nigeria and Germany, as well as in the Jordanian Royal Palace... In the Flesh, the work makes mothers swear in front of their kids. It never fails to astound and has satisfied many of our dearest Collectors.

The recipe for this success is a well kept secret. Susan gave only the ingredients: oil, metallic foil and ink. She must have forgot to mention the main one: genius.

She got inspired by the cairns in Sedona, AZ. Only taking several photographs of the formations that clearly defied her sense of gravity, a stunning example of Man and Nature collaborating to brighten the world. The balancing rocks transport the viewer from fantastical to feeling photographic from one moment to the next... Absolute magic... Just look at how it can change in differing light scenarios!
